Electro pop band Purity Ring claims the number one spot on The Hype Machine's most blogged artists chart on April 18. British rockers Arctic Monkeys drop to second place while US rock band My Morning Jacket takes third.
US electronic act Supreme Cuts, hailing from Chicago, recently debuted in the top ten thanks to Music Alliance Pact's (MAP) monthly listing of up-and-coming music acts from around the world. I Guess I'm Floating (www.iguessimfloating.net) shared the band's track "Amnesia," describing it as "a ridiculously addictive head trip that could soundtrack a nightclub as easily as it could an R Kelly video from the 90s."
Another new artist hot in the blogs is Holy Other, representing England in this month's MAP list. The Guardian Music Blog (www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog) describes him as "a nameless character" who often works out of Berlin, adding that his sound is "slow, drifting electronica, marked by glitches, with an almost church-like atmosphere that has led some to describe it as 'ambient goth.'"
