DORIS DAY : Lucky Me (1954)

Lucky Me (1954). Co-starring Robert Cummings and Phil Silvers.

Candy Williams, is a very superstitious struggling performer in a musical group, headed by Hap Schneider. Unfortunately, the group find themselves stranded and hungry. Hap comes up with a plan to trick policeman Barney Mahoney, into agreeing to make a phony arrest, after the group has dined at expensive restaurant. Things don't go as planned and must work off the meal in the kitchen to avoid being arrested.

Their luck begins to change when song writer Dick Carson, hears Candy perform. Candy has no idea who he is, but, the rest of the group, believes this is their lucky break. When Candy realizes who he really is, she's furious because he lied to her.

Now, he has to figure out how to handle, Lorainne, the daughter of an oil tycoon, who he is currently dating and who he wants to back the show. Which turns out to be harder than he thought.
